The Woman Shaping PCC’s Photography Competition and Scholarship Program

For over fourteen years, Nancy Lem worked as the art director for the South Pasadena Review and The Quarterly Magazine, both owned by William “Bill” Ericson. Today, she is the President of the William G. Ericson Foundation.

“Bill spoke with me at length about his wish to form a Foundation to promote photographic education and to publish a book of his work,” says Nancy. “He learned from his parents that giving back to the community was important; he and his parents supported the city of South Pasadena in many ways. The formation of the William G. Ericson Foundation is Bill’s final way to support the community.”

With the development of the Ericson Photography Competition and Scholarship Program in 2022, students at PCC, as well as graduating seniors from the 14 high schools in the Pasadena Area Community College District, will have the opportunity to showcase their work and receive awards to support their artistic and educational goals.

“As President of the Ericson Foundation, I hope that the scholarships will give students the opportunity and confidence to further their education and pursue careers in photography.”
