Yes PCC!

Voters showed support on Nov. 8, 2022, for Measure PCC with more than 70% voting YES. It’s rare for a ballot measure to get this kind of approval, which goes to show how supportive the community is of PCC and its mission to provide high-quality, affordable education and career training for residents throughout the San Gabriel Valley. In fact, of all the educational bond measures in the state, the Yes on PCC bond measure captured the highest approval rate.

“I’ve always known PCC was beloved, but the results of Measure PCC prove the overwhelming amount of support the College has from its community,” said Dr. Erika Endrijonas.

While PCC has served the community well for decades, most of its facilities are over 50 years old and need repairs, upgrades, and safety improvements to continue serving local students. With November’s results, the community can look forward to updates to PCC classrooms, labs, and career training facilities.

Updates will:

-Provide modern science labs and career training facilities and equipment so students are prepared for university transfer and in-demand careers

-Keep computer systems and instructional technology up to date

-Upgrade classrooms and labs to help students complete their first two years of college and transfer to the Cal-State or UC systems

-Repair or replace leaky roofs, old rusty plumbing, and faulty electrical systems

-Upgrade older buildings so they meet current health codes, and building safety codes and provide proper access for students with disabilities

-Remove hazardous materials like asbestos and lead pipes from older buildings

-Improve student safety and campus security

The next step in the process is for the College’s Board of Trustees to approve a Citizen’s Bond Oversight Committee and begin internal processes to prioritize the needs of the campus.

“This is a huge opportunity for all of us to transform the lives of students, faculty, staff, and the community,” said Dr. Endrijonas. “I’m honored to help lead during this transformational time.”
